Artist Statement:
Loose garbage on our streets, in our buildings, fields, lakes and oceans - our post-consumer byproducts have begun to take on a life of their own. Gracefully dancing around with the slightest breeze, or swirling around in the ocean into a form twice the size of Texas (in the North Pacific Gyre), most plastic slowly brakes down into smaller particles, rather than decomposing to reform into earth. It is inevitable that these particles will end up finding a way into our bodies through what we consume. We need to find a way to put our trash on a leash, before it consumes us.
Undergraduate - 2nd Year
Reminds me a bit of Caltiki, a blob-like monster in a 1959 Italian horror film that travels through the landscape--far more destructive, though. Yours has a truly whimsical aura--love the breathless ending...
