Tease for a half-hour documentary profiling the Prison Creative Arts Project.
Every year, along with student and community volunteers, Janie Paul (faculty A&D) and Buzz Alexander (faculty LSA) travel to 42 prisons throughout the state of Michigan. Here they meet with prisoners & hand-select work for the Annual Exhibit of Prison Art at the University of Michigan, now the largest exhibit of prison art in the country.
This half-hour documentary profiles these two activist/artists who believe in the power of the creative arts as a tool for social change.
Janie Paul is a faculty member at A&D. She also runs Detroit Connections, a community engagement project with Detroit schools.
