At an otherwise peaceful Garden Party a string trio finds itself playing against and ultimately with a quartet of gardeners and their instruments.

I am interested in how much work it takes to make a garden appear peaceful and beautiful. How often have we found ourselves sitting down to expect tranquility when we are confronted by those means--grunts, cuts, lawnmowers, leaf blowers.
Recognizing that this physical force is part of the garden rather than forever outside its gates, this project works to reconcile competing forces.

The players: Abby Alwin, cello, Frank Pahl on ukelele, Tim Flood on bass. Terri Sarris on lawn tools and toy piano, Nick Tobier on shears, seeder and accordion, Malcolm Tulip on mallet, wheelbarrow and melodica, Katherine Weider on pipes, snippers and bells.
