For her thesis project, Reem Gibriel fashioned amphorae out of clay and fabric that were designed to slowly disintegrate within the timeframe allotted to two exhibits: “metAmphore” in the Slusser Gallery Lounge, and “Personae,” at the Kelsey Museum of Archaeology.
Amphorae stand as evidence of our efforts to preserve the past, and of our need to acquire, examine, and display as much of it as possible.
