Siren Song consists of a single hanging light bulb in a dark room with a small projection screen positioned just below the bulb. When the light bulb is lit the screen comes alive with video imagery of moths swarming around the glow of the bulb. The accompanying soundtrack plays the sounds of a rural evening. Occasionally the sound of a cell phone on vibrate enters into the soundscape, and the audible vibrations of this phantom phone appear to draw more moths to the light bulb. As the vibration sounds fade out, so do the moths. The audio/video loop continues in this manner. This installation presents a tension between physical space and virtual space by framing a tangible light bulb into a visually seamless narrative with projected video imagery.
